Mahindra is planning to move further in the road machinery segment
.

Our products are tech-savvy, rugged and Made in India, off-late in the grader category, we have already introduced three variants of graders says Rahul Joshi, Head – Marketing, Product Planning & PMO, Mahindra Construction Equipment.

How does the BSVI norms give impetus to efficiency? How has it impacted the cost of your excavators and backhoe loaders?
BS IV norms are related to pollution control and we all are aware of the pollution level in India. As far as machine efficiency is concerned, the overall efficiency of the machine will increase in terms of fuel average along with pollution control. And to control unburnt carbon particles, we are moving towards burning the fuel to the maximum extent. Hence increasing the efficiency of engine and machine as a whole. The enhancement to BSVI norms will impact the cost of the machines and the cost of machines is likely to increase. But the increase in cost will be alike in all products and competitors in the industry.

What are the specific factors which make your excavators and backhoe loaders efficient on uptime?
Mahindra BHL are rugged and simple in design and ruggedness is the trademark of all Mahindra products. Construction machinery must deal with tough site conditions. Hence the DNA of Mahindra construction machines make it versatile in tough conditions and the machine itself is reliable and less prone to failure. Furthermore, the on-time service and doorstep parts availability add to the efficacy of the overall running of machines.

How far hybrid excavators and backhoe loaders look attractive for Indian conditions?
The hybrid technology is essentially good for machines. But in India finding a right price tag for such innovations is quite a challenge since the Indian market is also price sensitive. Though the hybrid technology is a much needed innovation it does, however, increase the cost of ownership.

Tell us about the future for your range of excavator and backhoe loader in terms of innovations.
A backhoe loader is already an evolved machine and going forward, new models will have additional features and variants. Mahindra is planning to move further in the road machinery segment and has already introduced three variants of Made in India graders. We are planning to introduce a full range of road machinery in the future. Apart from fuel efficiency, what are the other factors which make your backhoe loaders and excavators most preferred? Mahindra products are tech savvy, rugged, Made in India and they are associated with Brand Mahindra, which makes them class apart. Other USPs includes; highest dumping height, longest dig depth, higher engine hp and lowest maintenance cost.
