PM inaugurates gati shakti cargo terminal project of ramco cements – the first of its kind in the cement industry.

Prime Minister Shri. Narendra Modi today virtually inaugurated Ramco Cements’ groundbreaking Gati Shakti Cargo Terminal project in Jayanthipuram village, Jaggaiahpet Mandal, NTR District, Andhra Pradesh. This innovative venture marks a significant milestone as the first of its kind in India, with Ramco Cements revolutionising the transportation of crushed limestone from its mines in Budawada to the integrated cement plant in Jayanthipuram.

Utilising electric locomotives and railway wagons, the company ensures environmentally friendly transit, covering a total distance of 8.3 kilometers. Of this, 4.9 kilometers span the South Central Main Railway Line, connecting Mellacheruvu to Jaggaiahpet stations, while the remaining 3.4 kilometers encompass Ramco Cements’ dedicated sidings.

This initiative aligns seamlessly with the nation’s Gati Shakti Mission, particularly within the framework of the Dedicated Freight Corridor, underscoring Ramco Cements’ commitment to sustainable practices and enhancing logistical efficiency. Prime Minister Modi’s virtual inauguration highlights the government’s support for innovative projects that not only boost industrial growth but also prioritise environmental sustainability.
