Wilfried Theissen, Managing Director, Putzmeister India in this interview talks about the technology used in road construction sector by Putzmeister and much more.

What range of products are you offering for efficient and fast construction of roads under different geographical conditions?
Putzmeister offers a range of solutions to help the road construction sector. Our solutions include Batching Plants, Truck Mounted Boom Pumps, Mortar Equipment and Asphalt Pavers.

Batching Plants: Available in a range of output capacities from 20 m3/hr to 120 me/hr our Batching Plants are currently working on various road projects in India.

Truck Mounted Boom Pumps: Available with a reach starting from 30 meters to 47 meters, Putzmeister and Sany Truck Mounted Boom Pumps have worked on numerous bridge projects across India.

Mortar Equipment: Having applications in grouting on projects using precast concrete blocks and external concrete restoration/repair work.

Asphalt Pavers: Putzmeister/Sany Pavers have a capacity ranging from 450t/h to 1100t/h with the maximum paving width of 12m.

What are the latest innovations and technologies in your road construction equipment range?
We work on a continuous innovation principle and offer our customers best in class technology. We are in the process of rolling out advanced telematics solutions Putzmeister Machine Cockpit to our range of Truck Mounted Concrete Pumps. This will help fleet owners and site managers to make most efficient use of their equipment.

What are the hurdles you see for faster construction of roads in the interiors of the country?
While the country has set very ambitious targets, there are delays in awarding of projects due to land acquisition and other issues. Once projects are underway, payments to contractors get delayed. This impacts the entire ecosystem.

What are the product customisation you have introduced for ensuring peak performance in different geographical areas?
Putzmeister equipment is always thoroughly tested for performance in a range of application conditions. Our Truck Mounted Boom Pumps for example are globally renowned for working on some of the most challenging projects across the world. In fact, I cannot single out any type of geography that our pumps haven’t worked on. Our global experience ensures that our equipment can handle any challenge. If a customer needs any special application support, we deploy a team of experts to help them customize the equipment to suit their requirements.
