Germany-based Jungheinrich Group is one of the world’s largest suppliers of industrial trucks, warehousing technology and materials flow technology. In Europe, Jungheinrich is the leading supplier of warehousing technology. Since 1953, the group has been offering forklift-based products and services designed to get things moving for industrial customers. The company has started its journey in India in 2012 by setting up a subsidiary named Jungheinrich Lift Truck India. In an interview with B2B Purchase, Manojit Acharya, Managing Director of Jungheinrich Lift Truck India shares his views on the shining future of material handling equipment.

Shining future
Indian economy is growing at 7-8 per cent at present scenario, which indicates positive sign for Indian market. “As per MHE demand in India is growing at 15-20 per cent per year and this will continue to grow at the same rate in the near future,” Acharya said while talking on the industry status.

Major buying factors
Speaking on the factors a buyer should consider before making decision of buying MHE, Acharya says, “The major factors a buyer should consider before making a decision of buying MHE include technical suitability, application orientation, service back-up, operator comfort, operating cost, safety, and efficiency.”

Procurement drivers
When asked about the factors driving the procurement decision making, Acharya says, “Apart from pricing, productivity and durability, factors driving the procurement decision making are service support and product competency.”

Rent or buy?
Focusing on the points a buyer should consider while determining whether to rent or buy MHE, Acharya says, “Most prominent consideration is whether the need is short-term or long-term. If the need is short-term like 1-3 years then buyer should go with rent as it is most cost effective model than that of purchasing. Also in current scenario where companies want to grow faster, they can invest into their business rather than investing into MHE and take such equipment on rent, which saves huge cost of investment.”

He also adds, “If one gets the rental services from OEM, he or she should prefer it, as one can trust the professional performance of an established OEM.”

According to Acharya, “Jungheinrich always believes in machines, ideas and solutions and have machines with many ideas from application point of view from industry to industry and sell solutions to customers. All the trucks offered by Jungheinrich are energy efficient and works for more hours than the other trucks and takes care of the comfort level of the operator who can operate comfortably and increase the throughput.”
