As an environmentally responsible building materials company, we strive to leave no stone unturned in protecting the construction environment through sustainable building products and materials, as well as reducing carbon footprints on site, says Ashwin Reddy, Managing Director of Aparna Enterprises Limited.
Maintaining sustainable construction through building materials
We use manufactured sand (M-sand or crushed sand) instead of river sand to prepare the concrete mix. M Sand is better suited for the concrete mix as it is processed in quarries, is relatively free from silt and clay, and offers better compatibility with cement, helping make a better-quality concrete mix.
We also use our products’ residual materials from different external processes like fly ash and GGBS (ground granulated blast furnace slag). These products are waste materials generated from different processes (e.g., thermal power generation and steel production) and help improve the quality of the concrete mix.
Changing procurement patterns for construction equipment and building materials
Customers have greater awareness, fuelling a change in the purchase pattern. Customers are increasingly moving towards environmentally friendly products or products that cause minimal impact or damage to the ecosystem. Many reputed builders even stress that building material suppliers disclose the energy consumed, the process followed, or the raw materials used to manufacture building material products.
Enhancing quality in concrete and RMC products
Customers are at the heart ofour operations. We prioritise delivery of products as per schedule at the production site. RMC is a perishable product. As a result, we have invested in and established our fleet of RMC carrying trucks and pumping systems to meet our customer’s needs on time. Another differentiator that sets us apart is our focus on quality. We follow a strict quality control mechanism. We ensure that the same quality is maintained across batches. We also offer customisation of the concrete mix. Aparna RMC provides concrete mixes for higher grade requirements in infrastructure projects such as dams, flyovers, etc., making us a preferred partner for infrastructure players.
Prospects to reduce, reuse and recycle the building materials
The industry is exploring multiple ways to reduce its impact on the environment. Some of the practices that will soon become the norm are: increased use of environmentally friendly products; increased push from architects and builders to adopt sustainable practices; and optimisation of energy usage in residential and commercial constructions. Aparna Enterprises uses residual material (waste from certain processes) for producing a range of recyclable building material products and uses green fuel (natural gas) in tile manufacturing to curb pollution.
