Reduced downtime, safe work environment, space reduction, limited human intervention, attending to issues on time and proactive maintenance are the benefits that has been reaped from adopting Industry 4.0.

How do you see the availability of trained operators in India today? How are you supporting this initiative?
Availability of trained operators in India is still an uphill journey. As part of Schwing Stetter India’s vision of empowering our esteemed customers with knowledge and expertise, an exclusive training centre was setup in 2004 at our HO & Works. The training centre with lecture halls to train up to 100 persons at a time, has got the facility of giving animation based training programs, technical library, cut model display area, cafeteria and locker facilities for the trainees. The training centre imparts primary and advanced courses on operation, maintenance, safety, & troubleshooting for deriving the best benefits out of Schwing Stetter equipment.

These programs are conducted on a 3 – 4 days’ basis to hone their operational and service skills. In the beginning of the year a training calendar is published online & distributed to various customers and programs are conducted as per schedule. Special programs are also conducted to cater to customized needs of customers. Further to cater to the customers in their own region we have come up with regional training centres at New Delhi, Kolkata, Hyderabad. It is needless to say that Schwing Stetter India is constantly evolving with times and will continue to support its esteemed customers in every way possible including training. Our training school is India’s first ever training centre to be awarded and accredited to certify pump operators under the Pradhan Mantri Kaushal Vikas Yojana scheme in India. The Indian Construction Equipment Manufacturers Association (ICEMA) too has setup Infrastructure Equipment Skill Council (IESC) in colloboration with National Skill Development Corporation (NSDC). IESC has planned to train around 20,00,000 operators and maintenance personnel over the next 10 years.

Our new product launches are Schwing stationary concrete pump SP1015D/HD, SP1420 and SP 4507.

What is your expectation from the upcoming edition of Excon?
We expect EXCON to be the first step for the revival in the construction equipment industry after the slowdown.
