Recently, we have added few brand-new big boom lifts and diesel scissors to our fleet to meet the immediate demand. We would still add a few more brand-new booms later this year, says Krishna Patel, Senior Manager, Maco Corporation (India) Pvt Ltd.

What are the latest products introduced by Maco Corporation for the Indian market?

Genie/Maco has introduced all-new E-Drive slab scissor for uncompromised performance. The new Genie GS E-Drive scissor lifts are engineered with today’s state-of-the-art AC drive system that not only guarantees optimised resale value in the long-term but is also a more reliable technology than hydraulic drive. With fewer moving parts, it is easier to repair and hydraulic drive leakage-free. It will change the way you think about scissor lifts’ profitability and opt for a machine with better gradeability and longer runtime on a single charge. Genie has also introduced S60J and S80J. This new addition to the Genie essential performance boom line offers rental companies the opportunity to increase their rental return on invested capital (rROIC) by mixing their fleets with a variety of Genie booms, matching the right boom to the right application.

What kind of safety features are you providing when it comes to access equipment?

Genie equipment has all the required safety features as per the ANSI or CE manufacturing standards. These include the load limiting device on the platform, LiftGaurd Contact Alarm, Tilt Sensor etc., to name a few. But the most important factor about safety while using access equipment is compliance with the employer, job site and government rules. The customers should read, understand and follow the instructions in all safety and operator manuals supplied with our machines. And you should only have trained/qualified operators, directed by informed and knowledgeable supervision running the machine.

Could you shed some light on your equipment rental, maintenance and repairs services in a pandemic?

Since the first wave of coronavirus pandemic in 2020, we have adopted online support for repairs and maintenance of Genie machines. We managed to help our customers maintain and repair their machine over video calls, which have reduced the travelling of the service team. Additionally, we have conducted online training programs for our major customers, where we help them gain more insights on maintaining the machines for trouble-free operations. Rental activities had taken a hit during the first wave, but later it recovered quite well until we were hit by the second wave of Covid-19. We have not been affected that badly during the second wave of coronavirus in terms of rental activities. The company is anticipating a huge bounce back in rental activities soon.

In the current market environment, how is Maco Corporation assessing its business plans?

In the short term, we have been assessing and adjusting our business plans according to the prevailing dynamic situations. But our long term business plan is intact even though we are hit by some roadblocks due to Covid-19. We are forecasting huge demand for access equipment for the Indian market in the coming years. We are taking the required steps and measures to be part of this growth story. Recently, we have added few brand new big boom lifts and diesel scissors to our fleet to meet the immediate demand. We would still add a few more brand-new booms later this year.
