Enovation Controls is primarily a provider of vehicle, construction, and mining equipment automation, currently focusing on the mining, marine, and military sectors. “At BC India 2023, we debuted our ” OPENView Series” displays. We also displayed a variety of displays ranging in size from 3.8 to 12 inches. Our mobile controllers, hydraulic valve drivers, and other product lines are being introduced in India”, says Harpreet Singh Wahan of Enovation Controls. 

Can you shed some light on the recently launched products and their application areas? 

We’ve introduced a new line of displays called the OPENView. These are next-generation models designed for medium to high-volume needs. And these are for OEMs with a workforce of 1000-3000 people. It has the dependability that Enovation Controls is known for but in a package representing an entirely new value proposition. Our team can program these OPENView displays, but they can also be programmed completely by the customer, allowing them to retain the entire IP of the product. We are displaying them for the first time in India, and we expect to begin production of these displays in India within the next few months. 

How do you analyse the demand and add value by increasing production and developing new products?

As the entire industry transitions from mechanical to electronic engines. We will see a significant change in how equipment is built in this country over the next year and a half. As a result, the electronic content in all of these vehicles will increase by 30 to 40 percent. The vehicles will undoubtedly have displays, controllers, and higher modules. It will have electronic sensors and joysticks, which have not been seen in the last 50 years. Overall, this is an exciting time for us because we have been in the country for over a decade and have a strong presence here.

All these products are developed, and the end designed everything in your manufacturing facility.

Enovation Controls is a global organisation with four product development locations and approximately six manufacturing locations. Products designed and developed in our India manufacturing facility are not only used in the Indian market but are also exported to China and the European Union markets. We are pleased to announce that Enovation Controls is contributing to India’s “Make in India” initiative, which benefits India and the world.

Our manufacturing facility in Pune is fully integrated. In 2023, we will initiate developing and manufacturing valve drivers, controllers, and I/O modules. We have ambitious long-term plans, and I believe we will be served with great opportunities.

How do innovation controls add value to the concept of India’s Make in India?

In India, we are developing a large number of products. We design with the target market in mind. We are also developing them to reduce the risk of our global manufacturing. As a result, we produce exportable products. The valve drives manufactured in India will be exported worldwide. Even our displays manufactured in India are exported to China, the United Kingdom, and the European Union.

It’s a big step because we’ve never worked in an electronics manufacturing facility. However, the government of India’s push is highly beneficial because it encourages manufacturers like us to come to India and set up their product development, application engineering, and semi-automated lines. Some lines are automated; consider investing in billboards. Invest in world-class high-tech manufacturing lights, not just for the Indian market but for the entire world. We are pleased to make these investments. Make in India, and thus make for the world.

How is R&D helping you improve both product and operation efficiency? This is critical because all displays must be as simple as a mobile phone. We no longer read a manual when we take a mobile phone out of the box. Similarly, we must design an interface for the person operating the machine so that he understands how it looks and what information we are receiving from it. We must collaborate with the equipment manufacturer and combine their expertise with our years of experience designing display interfaces. For India, we have application teams on the ground. We don’t have to rely on others in Europe or the United States to programme it; our team here works directly with OEMs and end users to create user-friendly applications.
