Discussing ENI’s specialities, Vijay Upponi of Apar Industries talks about ENI Lubricants’ specialised oils, leveraging raw materials, quality control, and innovations for diverse industries.

How do your specialised oils and lubricants offer distinct advantages for specific industries?

Since ENI Lubricants entered the Indian market, the company has always strived to differentiate its product line from the conventional products sold. Some of the products have been fine-tuned to offer a distinct advantage to the end user. We understand the application requirements and offer a solution rather than opting for the product recommendation. ENI has tailor-made products designed focusing on the industry requirements and challenging environments, extreme temperatures, heavy loads, and immense pressures in which the equipment words. ENI lubricants are designed to offer better performance and better protection for the machinery, operate at higher temperatures, increase the oil service life intervals, and increase the life of the equipment.

Can you highlight how your organisation leverages the raw materials used in the finished products to enhance performance?

ENI is an Italian multinational petroleum company involved in power, energy chemicals and plastics, refining and extraction, and distribution. They are refining high-performance base oils, have additive technology, and have a full-fledged R&D facility for testing lubricants. Starting from its attitude toward innovation and research experience, ENI can offer a wide range of products that meet the most stringent performance specifications of lubricants in different applications. ENI has partnered with Apar Industries Ltd. in India to manufacture ENI world-class lubricants. Apar is a diversified billion-dollar company operating in over 140 countries and offers conductors, cables, speciality oils, polymers, and lubricants. ENI products blended in India have the leverage of using high-performance base oils in the formulation instead of the conventional base oils that are generally used. Along with the combination of special additive packages and Eni technology to support the products manufactured in India, they meet the performance requirements and provide extra benefits to the end user.

What measures do you take to ensure the specialisation and compatibility of your speciality oils and lubricants with diverse materials and equipment?

Earthmoving equipment, such as excavators, backhoe loaders, etc., operate in a challenging environment and are exposed to extreme temperatures, loads, and pressures. They require high-performance lubricants capable of withstanding these harsh conditions to meet these demands. ENI lubricants are designed to work in these extreme conditions. With the support of ENI’s R&D and testing facility in Italy, the tailor-made lubricants catering to this segment are subjected to:

Quality Control Checks: The products undergo stringent quality checks from receiving raw materials to the production and distribution chain before reaching the end consumer.

Certification: Eni Lubricants has many global OEM approvals. The lubricants undergo thorough testing and quality clearance from our NABL-accredited laboratory.

Oil Analysis: The QC lab is fully geared up to provide a complete oil analysis program for preventive maintenance. We offer our customers condition monitoring of their equipment through oil testing, thereby giving valuable insights into the condition of their equipment and lubricants.

Customer Feedback: We value feedback from our customers and end-users. This helps us understand their needs and concerns and enables us to improve our products and services continuously.

What are the ENI products for earthmoving equipment and infrastructure customers?

ENI manufactures and markets a complete range of lubricants that benefit end-users in terms of better efficiency, reliability, and production, as well as better protection of the equipment for earthmoving equipment. ENI offers the renowned I-SIGMA series of engine oils with synthetic technology, where the customer sees value addition in terms of better fuel economy, higher efficiency, work under higher operating temperatures, high equipment protection even in adverse conditions, and longer-lasting performance. The ENI ROTRA Transmission Oil Series is designed to operate under heavy load conditions as required by earthmoving equipment. Transmission oils are specially formulated as per the OEM requirements, e.g., UTTO oils, which are recommended by some backhoe and axle OEMs. Some of these oils are tweaked to meet certain specific requirements of the OEMs. ENI also has an extensive range of greases and coolants to meet special application requirements.

Which innovations do you offer in customised oils and lubricants to meet specific customer needs?

ENI has been successfully marketing their I-SIGMA Engine oils based on synthetic technology with higher performance at a marginally higher cost than conventional mineral oils. The engine oil range covers completely the needs of the market, from conventional engines to modern engines meeting the new emission norms and those fitted with exhaust after-treatment devices. We have successfully developed a range of UTTO oils catering to the specific needs of major OEMs in the off-highway segment. Because of this, ENI is a major supplier of lubricants in this segment. ENI offers greases ranging from long-life greases to complex greases used for specific applications. ENI also  has lubricants that are 100 percent synthetic for both automotive and industrial applications. Our energy-efficient lubricant has helped customers benefit from 2-3 percent power savings. ENI also has a diverse product range for alternate fuels like CNG and LNG for mobile applications and natural gas and biogas for stationary engines.
