Jaso India Pvt Ltd redefines construction industry benchmarks by offering durable, efficient lifting and material handling solutions tailored to modern infrastructure demands.
Can you provide a brief overview of Jaso India and its journey in the construction industry since its inception?
We are proud to be part of a prestigious group of companies under the Jaso brand, delivering exceptional products and services for the last 59 years. Our Spanish group has made a significant mark worldwide in the material handling segment, and we are known for our quality offerings. We operate in more than 20 countries and have six manufacturing units worldwide. We entered the Indian market in 2008 and have since established our headquarters in Kolkata, West Bengal. Our manufacturing plant is located in Hooghly, West Bengal, and we also have a marketing office in Bengaluru, Karnataka. We have over 1,000 installations in the Indian market, and with our 60,000 sq ft manufacturing facility in Hooghly, we can add an additional 150 cranes each year.
What sets you apart from other lifting equipment manufacturers in the Indian market?
The quality and reliability of our products set us apart from other lifting equipment suppliers. At present, many brands are busy offering features that add little utility to the product but instead create more complexity to the whole system. But we understand our users and design our products, keeping focus on delivering a practical and performance-oriented machine that should be simple to use and easy to maintain.
Our products have stood the test of time, and our customers are our best brand ambassadors across the globe. We are known for the impeccable quality of the products supplied and the really low maintenance they require over their lifetime. A major outflow in the EOT cranes is the cost of maintaining the equipment. We completely understand this; hence, we focus on manufacturing machines with minimal downtime, minimal maintenance, and low spare requirements. We use the best possible input components while manufacturing our cranes and in addition to that, our cranes are designed as per FEM regulations, meeting the global requirement.
Could you elaborate on your range of products, specifically in EOT cranes and hoisting equipment?
We provide a diverse range of products in the Indian market. Our EOT cranes are manufactured with capacities of up to 150 tons and spans of up to 40 meters in both single—and double-girder configurations. In addition to EOT cranes, we offer Gantry or Goliath cranes, which can be produced in both single-girder (SG) and double-girder (DG) configurations. These cranes can accommodate capacities of up to 150 tons and have configurable spans. We also supply Jib cranes in gantry, wall-mounted, and cantilever options. These cranes can span up to 7 meters and have a maximum capacity of 10 tons. Our transfer cars are customised according to our customer’s requirements and can be designed to accommodate up to 50 tons of cargo.
What technologies has Jaso India implemented in its product offerings to enhance efficiency and safety?
As our cranes are designed as per FEM regulations, safety is the utmost priority while manufacturing our product. Our cranes come with all the necessary safety features required for safe operations. For instance, an instantaneously triggered braking system activates the electromagnetic brakes immediately during a power failure. Our load limiter includes a snap-action switch triggered instantly in case of an overload. We also equip our cranes with position limit switches for all LT, CT motions and hoisting limit switches to limit hook movements in extreme positions. Our technical department in Spain, consisting of over 50 design engineers, ensures that we design each crane with the best-optimised weight to guarantee maximum efficiency during operations while ensuring robustness and a long lifespan.
What trends do you see shaping the construction industry’s future, particularly in the use of lifting equipment?
We are witnessing a gradual rise in the adoption of lifting equipment within the construction and manufacturing industry. The major reasons for this shift include the movement from unskilled to skilled workers. The government is actively contributing to this change by creating more skilled workers who can adapt to the evolving landscape of the construction and manufacturing sectors. The industry is adapting to larger models and heavier loads, necessitating the upgrade of existing capacities or introducing newer lifting equipment. Additionally, there is a notable shift in the government’s approach, emphasising the initiative of Making in India. The government’s intent and ability to promote manufacturing in India will be the major driving force in shaping the future of the construction and manufacturing industry.
What safety measures and training programmes do you provide to ensure the safe operation of your equipment on construction sites?
We run a training program after the installation of our cranes. It is a comprehensive training programme covering each aspect of the cranes. Post installation, our personnel watch over the operations for a day to ensure that the product is being handled correctly and that the user does not face any operations-related issues. In addition, the customer is given a manufacturer’s manual. It covers all aspects of the crane extensively, from the standard maintenance procedures to the safety instructions while operating the crane.
Can you tell us about your research and development investment?
We invest heavily in R&D efforts. Jaso’s research team is located in central Spain, at our worldwide headquarters in Itsasando. A dedicated team of engineers is always working to improve existing product offerings while also seeking to innovate.
Jaso has established oneself as one of the most dependable brand names in the world as a result of our continuous efforts to develop our products. Amongst our most recent new offers is a flexible robot called “CRANE BOT,” which is a parallel cable-driven robot designed to optimise operations in wide spaces. It has a wide range of applications in industries like marine, renewable energy, aeronautics and nuclear industries. Its application is not just limited to the above-mentioned list of industries.
