American Concrete Institute inaugurates its Student Chapter at Sakthi Polytechnic, Chennai

This will be ICACI’s fourth student chapter in Tamil Nadu’s Erode district, bringing the association’s footprint to 19 student chapters across India.

The India Chapter of the American Concrete Institute (ACI) inaugurated a new Student Chapter at Sakthi Polytechnic College, Tamil Nadu on 18^th May 2022. A celebration was held on the college campus, technical presentations were made, and a plaque unveiling ceremony was held to commemorate the opening.

The chief for the inaugural event was Ms Radhika Markan, Former President of, the India Chapter of ACI (ICACI). ICACI Director Prof. G. S. Rampradheep, Senior Civil Engineering faculty Prof. R. Parthipan, HOD Civil Engineering Prof. Dr R. Shanmugam, Student Chapter Mentor Prof. P. R. Nagarajan, other members of the Civil Engineering faculty, along with students, were present at the inauguration ceremony.

This will be ICACI’s fourth student chapter in Tamil Nadu’s Erode district, bringing the association’s footprint to 19 student chapters across India. It is also the first official launch of an ICACI student chapter since early 2020, a period marred by COVID-induced lockdowns.

“We are happy to inaugurate one more Student Chapter in Tamil Nadu—a rapidly growing and important geographical area for the India Chapter of ACI,” Ms Markan said. This development contributes to the India Chapter’s goal of providing students with a diverse range of learning and networking opportunities.”

“A Student Chapter membership opens doors to an exciting new world of scholarships, internships, and international-level competitions, which in turn accelerates the student’s overall knowledge, skill, and personality development,” she continued.

“We at Sakthi Polytechnic College are very excited to be joining hands with the India Chapter of the American Concrete Institute,” said college principal Dr N. Thangavelu (ICACI). We are excited about this opportunity to broaden the knowledge andexposure of our civil engineering students and prepare them for careers. We will work hard to ensure that our students actively participate in all ICACI events.

The India Chapter of ACI, one of the largest ACI Chapters, is in its 43rd year of operation and has been honoured with ACI’s ‘Excellent Chapter’ award for over two decades. ICACI remains at the forefront of bringing cutting-edge knowledge in the field of concrete and its related products.
