Analysing the increasing growth in trends of the crushing and screening industry with upcoming innovative equipment industry leaders and equipment providers have shared their optimistic views on the growth trajectory of the crushing and screening industry.

Demand-supply dynamic for construction aggregates
“The aggregate demand-supply dynamics for construction are now highly favourable. Although the need for construction aggregates is anticipated to remain strong, aggregate output is expected to increase significantly in the coming years,” stated Dr. Pierro Guizzetti, CEO of MB Crusher. Additionally, the market for aggregates used in construction projects, such as building new roads and buildings and extending sewer systems, are the rewards of rising urbanisation trends.

Given the current environmental standards and the government’s desire to enforce them very strictly, which is a global concern, the larger facilities with higher capacity will be able to fulfil the expanding demand for processed aggregates, ores, and minerals, according to R.S. Raghavan, Managing Director, Proman Infrastructure.

Considering the growing demand for sand, screening, and crushing, Indranil Deb, COO of Torsa Machines Limited, states, “The quality of aggregates will rise as more infrastructure projects are completed, creating a competitive advantage for companies that can match that level and offer solutions for such systems”. Furthermore, he also adds that ready-to-use dry mix mortar and fine- rade plaster or concrete sand are becoming increasingly popular among consumers.

Significant advancements in the C&D sector
Today’s crushing and screening industries face constantly evolving demands, so it’s critical to use cutting-edge technology to provide better, more user-friendly products. Modern manufacturing facilities may be found in the export promotion industrial park in Guwahati, Assam, where high precession CNC machines bring cutting-edge concepts to life.

According to Mr. Raghavan, the output of construction and demolition (C&D) waste in India is expected to reach 150 million metric tonnes annually, according to the Building Material Promotion Council (BMPC). The completed products, including sand and recycled aggregates, may be put to several uses.

Considering the current condition, the C&D waste can be managed to dump less garbage in landfills. The building sector can benefit from it as a reliable supplier of raw materials. It could also aid in reducing the demand for virgin aggregate resources. All construction sites produce trash, which is recycled to create fresh, useful materials that may be used to fill foundations for buildings, excavate pipelines, build roads, and freshen up gardens. Additionally, it becomes a commercial resource that may be sold to other businesses if there are no chances for its usage on the building site.

Challenges
Reaching a remote region without a concrete road is the major challenge faced in mining, and transporting aggregates from the quarry to the construction site can be highly expensive and unequal in terms of quality and quantity when there is no local supply of stone. To ensure a fair balance between aggregate output and the environment, several environmental concerns must be addressed.

Mr Deb states that most people in the crushing industry live close to mines where the raw materials are mined. They should also be close to the construction sites to save money on transportation. Lack of skilled labour is also a concern in this industry. Crushing units are, therefore, frequently found in clusters on the outskirts of cities when mines are also nearby. The crushing and screening industry needs a good electric supply to function smoothly; hence, the availability of a power supply in remote regions is a concern that requires attention.

Considering the challenges of this industry, R.S. Raghavan, Managing Director, Proman Infrastructure, states that the GOI has invested a lot of effort in infrastructure development as it is essential to the nation’s economy. Since the customers may potentially acquire financing from financial institutions, clarity and transparency in the GOI’s awarding of mining leases would encourage consumers to engage, which is essential for the industry given the sizeable capital investments necessary.

Latest technologies
New crushing and screening technologies are created daily, shortening the associated life cycles. Contractors will increasingly choose technologies that allow for remote management and oversight. The relationship will consequently become important. We are working hard to solve these problems. We aim to create a framework that facilitates post-sales and servicing through a remote, integrated interface available to us, the client’s site, and the client’s headquarters. Currently, we allow contractors the most operational independence possible on the project site.

To meet the demand of the nearby infrastructure projects, Proman has been working hard to upgrade several existing crusher units. In addition to this, we are working on brand-new green-field plants where we are providing complete turnkey solutions.

Moreover, at MB Crushers, new crushing and screening technologies are developed daily, and the corresponding life cycles are getting shorter. They predict that contractors will opt for solutions that enable remote control and supervision more and more. As a result, the connection will become a key factor. They are making serious efforts to address these issues. We already give contractors the maximum operational independence on the job site; now, we want to design a framework that makes post-sales and service smooth via a remote, integrated interface that is accessible to us, the client’s site, and the client’s headquarters.

Additionally, Deb believes it is a very profitable business opportunity for both the seller and the buyer due to the integration of all modern jaws, cones, feeders, and screens equipped with cutting- edge technology on mobile chassis, incorporating hydraulics and remote-controlled operation for mobility, and, most importantly, adaptability of use in various mining applications.
The crushing and screening business is continually evolving in terms of technology and equipment. We need to address the challenges faced by this industry. The demand for building aggregates is increasing in tandem with urbanisation trends. The government must establish tight guidelines for recycling aggregate and producing new material. The rise in construction and infrastructure development in various regions also propels the growth of this market during the forecast period. The market for this equipment is mostly driven by price, quality, and brand perception, which helps the producers maintain a competitive edge. The sector is also focused on providing specialised crushing, screening, and mineral processing equipment according to customer needs.
