The Maharashtra government has approved construction of an 84-km greenfield road connecting the Surjagarh iron ore mines till Konseri village in Gadchiroli district.

The route leading from Navegaon Mor, Surjagargh to Konseri through Mulchera-Hedri has been finalised. Lloyds Metals and Energy (LMEL) operates an iron ore mine at Surjagarh and is setting up an integrated steel plant at Konseri. The dedicated road is expected to ease the transportation of iron ore from the mine till the steel plant, as well as delivery of health services and other government schemes.

The Konseri plant will undergo expansion in the coming one to two years, and is expected to create 15,000 employment opportunities.

Gadchiroli district will also be connected to developed areas of the state through the Samruddhi Mahamarg and the Durg-Hyderabad Expressway.
