Jaso India Pvt. Ltd. is now one of the key players in the Indian market with a large amount of overhead cranes successfully produced and commissioned in India. Mr Bagchi expects the local crane industry to see a definite rise in near future.
Growing cranes industryThe government wants to make India a manufacturing hub. Looking into the major boost by the present optimistic new government, the International Monetary Fund (IMF) has revised India’s 2014 GDP growth projection marginally upwards to 5.6 per cent from its July forecast of 5.4 per cent.
“Manufacturing units or new projects or expansions have been directly proportional to the increase in the industrial cranes business,” says Mr Bagchi. “Latest equipped projects give a direct gateway to the material handling equipment. More installations of cranes mean increase in the after sales business for crane industry.”
Current procurement trends There has been a trend of many of the local players coming to the positioning to compete with the MNCs.  However, product rigidity, light weight, reliability, low down time and good quality services are definitely challenges posed to them.
“Procurement of local cranes has increased and it will be a good thing to watch over the Game, in coming years,” says Mr Bagchi.
Some procurement-related activities observed are:• Competition still poses to be steep• Indian buyers are mostly very price sensitive – meaning they want quality items at less prices• Market coverage of good quality cranes and suppliers of standing, need to increase for easing out the procurement challenges.
“We have already built-up presence in all the major metropolis and wish to diversify and build up on customer confidence with our standing by their side at the time of need,” says Mr Bagchi.
For customers According to Mr Bagchi, there are some major points a customer must consider while procuring an industrial crane as:• Sturdy cranes which are light-weight and rigid to the point they can withstand the pressure of work as per application requirement.• Supplier manufacturing facility, sales and service personnel profiles and most important and not the least after sales service. —————————————————————–Procurement of local cranes has increased and it will be a good thing to watch over the game, in coming years,” says Saikat Bagchi, Director – Marketing, Sales & BD, Jaso India Pvt.
