How far Indian roads and infrastructure projects will fuel the growth of the welding business?

Our Economy is passing through a bad phase since the last 2 years but with government efforts, our process trends in Construction Company, Bridges, Pipeline projects, Defence, Aerospace and other public infrastructures which is doing fairly in a good phase, is expected to grow. The government has also planned to bring improvements in productivity through Welding Process for last 12 months and this growth is likely to continue further. Government’s next effort of ‘Vocal for Local’, where local contractors and manufacturers and makers have been given opportunities, which has further increased the demand for welding in India.

What kind of technology enabled welding equipment will be required to support the rapid growth of infrastructure projects?

The latest set of welding products that help semi-skilled welders to produce high-quality joints maximising the available resources to produce high-quality joints quickly. Sigmaweld Pro Series is of modular Technology operating at 150KHz.This means, the machines can take decision every 6.7µ seconds so with active feedback and correction system the weld quality is very good, also giving great control to the welder to produce defect-free joints. The machines also come with Industry 4.0 intelligence, which means, the parameters can be controlled by the supervisor, and welders need to simply weld.

How do we bring impetus to improve sustainability and cost-efficiency in welding processes?

There is numerous type of Automation equipment that can greatly increase productivity and save cost. Welding Automation, Robotic applications plays important role in improving sustainability and cost-efficiency. The use of Automation makes welding safe, fast, productive and cost-efficient.

What are the challenges towards obtaining welding equipment/machines, skilled labour, technology upgradation etc?

Like all other Industries, Welding Industry has also been under pressure during pandemic. Welding Industry is still depending on imported products like for Hi-End applications. In order to reduce this dependence on imported products some of the local team has internal R&D team to develop equivalent product with their product gaining grounds and our needs of Welding Industry is met. ‘Vocal for Local’ is very much in line, as many local manufacturers are now invested heavily in R&D activity and so more and more quality product is available in Market. The government has also initiated positive steps to boost welding Industry like ‘Make in India Campaign’ as the Welding Industry is reliable and cost-effective. Welding is an ever growing Modern Technology which presents challenges and work opportunities for upcoming generation of Engineers. Need for skilled Welders are still not available, to meet these need experts have taken help from IIW, AWPM and other Government institutes/centres to increase skilled welders by training them.

How well are we complying with the environmental friendly and energy efficient needs in welding products and machineries?

Automation products, Robotic application, 100 percent duty Cycle machines are energy efficient. Latest welding power sources offer many benefits on the Production front from increased Weld Quality & deposition to increase energy efficiency. Every welding industry today has its own R&D system making it more environmental friendly.
