Mtandt’s diversification on Geotech business will add additional Rs 100 crore revenue in future.
Pradeep Agarwal, Managing Director, Mtandt Group
Mtandt, a key player in providing world-class equipment for safely working at height, appointed Pradeep Agarwal as its Group Managing Director. On the sidelines of EXCON 2017, he speaks to B2B Purchase and explains his business plan.
Mr Agarwal, congratulations on being elevated to the position of Managing Director. What will your core objectives at Mtandt?
The core objective of Mtandt remains providing reliable solutions to our customers. From a tools and tackles shop, Mtandt has come a long way and today transformed as one of the largest and most diversified companies in India. I joined Mtandt seven years back and since then the company has grown by around 3 times. Now our objective is to grow by another 3 times in next 3 years. We would also like to add new verticals.
Could you be specific on the new verticals?
In 2017, we have added Portadeck – the portable temporary road access mats. We have entered into specialised geo-technology solutions market and soon will start manufacturing of Neoweb and Neoloy geocells for specialised road construction.
At EXCON 2017, we have launched the innovative insulated working platforms with the joint venture with Altec, a world’s leading equipment and service provider for the electric utility, telecommunications, contractor, lights and signs, and tree care markets. We have already received orders from power distribution companies and Power Grid.
Further in Excon, the centre stage was taken by Skyjack Boom Lift, TCA made Falcon Spider Lift, Dingli Aerial Work Platforms, Monzon No- Limit Scaffolding and ALP material Lifts
How do you see the demand for specialised geo-technology solutions?
We have announced a JV with Israelis company PRS to bring Geotech Solutions in India. We are in discussion with NHAI and PWD authorities, and most likely to work on a 100-km stretch of Goa Highway in coming years. Mtandt’s diversification on Geotech business will add additional Rs 100 crore revenue in future.

How do you gauge the AWP market in India?
Currently, there are 6,000 AWPs working in India. But the market demand is slow, and a lot of unorganised players are coming into the picture. However, we do not see them as a threat as they will cultivate the market which will help grow expand the market. In another 3 years, we see there will be another 6,000 AWPs.
What kind of year-on-year growth you foresee in 2018?
In 2018, we expect that the AWP industry as well as Mtandt will grow by around 18 to 20 per cent
