The industry has to continuously strive to provide solutions for longer spans for heavier loads in ultra efficient cross sections, without compromising on time and quality.
Ajit Bhate, Managing Director, Precast India Infrastructures Pvt. Ltd.—————
Precast India Infrastructures Pvt. Ltd. covers a wide gamut of product and solution offerings along with required design services in the Indian precasting industry. Along with its standard elements like hollow core slabs, solid slabs, prestressed beams, the company has equipped itself with many more state-of-the-art, automatic moulds.
Some of its latest product offerings are:V beams: V beams are generally used for industrial roofing structures and have an extremely thin and sleek cross section. They can also be used for spans as long as 25 m. They are often combined with thin cross sectioned concrete arch lining sections. Transparent sheeting used with such V beams can give natural lighting for industrial floors.
H30 and H60 beams: H30 slabs are shell shaped roofing elements that can be used for medium spans of up to 15 m. H60 comes up with deeper web sections for applications of spans up to 25 m. All of the above pretensioned elements are casted on an automatic hydraulic mould.
Full height columns: It produces full height or multiple storied columns for most of the buildings. Columns can be with windows at beam levels for facilitating a wet connection or they can be casted without gaps, wherever dry connections are proposed between the column and beams. Pocket footings: It offers precast footings with a pocket or a cavity to receive the precast column that will be installed over it. Such footings can be done to various sizes depending upon the column dimensions and soil conditions.
In addition, precast facades mark PIIPL’s entry into the architectural precast sector. Apart from thin wall panels with patterns/perforated walls etc. The company has now progressed to produce much more complicated, thin and angular façade elements.
Recent technologies“To cater to demands of fully precast buildings, the industry has to continuously strive to provide solutions for longer spans for heavier loads in ultra efficient cross sections, without compromising on time and quality,” says Mr Bhate.
In an attempt to answer all of the increasing requirements, following are some of the recent technologies and trends prevalent in the industry:
On site precastOnsite Precast is done in cases of precast elements which are not viable to be transported due to their dimensions or weight. On site precast requires a very lean and self sufficient on site setup and specific machineries.
MechanisationThe industry is now moving towards automatic and adjustable moulds to cater to multiple project sites using the same resources, without delaying any project. Automatic moulds reduce labour requirement dramatically and can cut down production cycles by nearly 50 per cent. They are also flexible to accommodate different cross sections. Such changes can be done within a few minutes, owing to hydraulically operated adjustment mechanisms.
