Project name and location
Anganwadi Project under Ministry of Women and Child Development at Purnia, Bihar

Application
Rural child care center

Background
The anganwadis are government-sponsored child-care and mother-care centres catering to children in the 0-6 age group. They were started by the Indian government in 1975 as part of the Integrated child development services programme to mitigate child hunger and malnutrition. The state of Bihar, in a progressive step forward, wanted to construct these social welfare centers across the state, facilitating masses with basic health and primary aid.

Customer requirement
The main requirement was to have a cost effective roofing structure with a quick turnaround time for each Anganwadi center. The customer wanted to install more than 700 centers in just 18 months, that too in remote locations with limited availability of resources. While the project appeared straight forward, there were few operational challenges. Due to remote and decentralised locations with lack of proper approach road, it was extremely difficult to plan on-site supplies. However to address this issue, the entire material was assembled at a central stockyard. Later assembled trusses were shifted to locations with the help of tractors. Installation of over 700 centres well within stipulated timelines as per customer expectations was indeed a daunting task. Our structures were light weight and made of easily workable prefabricated material, enabling faster construction. Multiple installation teams were deployed at different locations for faster completion of the project.

Conclusion
With an inner strength to protect and maintain the roof’s structural integrity and quality of construction, EZYBUILD®technology enabled safe structure for the child and mother who would visit the centres. On-time project completion ensured State Government of Bihar’s goal achievement. SMARTRUSS solutions from EZYBUILD has enabled completion of 772 care centers in remote villages such as Kaimur, Banka and Madhuban enabling access to food and education.
