Subhajit Chaudhuri, Vice President-Sales and Projects, MMD India, speaks about the company, the procurement practices with team B2B  Purchase on the occasion of the 9th anniversary of the magazine.

Range of products
MMD India caters to the mining industry. Giving a brief view about the products that the company offers to the mining industry, Chaudhuri said, “Our MMD Twin Shaft Mineral Sizer, a device that processes over 80 different materials in more than 70 countries across the globe is mainly used for primary, secondary and tertiary crushing.  We also have our MMD Heavy Duty Apron Plate Feeder, an MMD Semi Mobile and Fully Mobile IPSC system and an MMD 500 -tonne Atlas Trasnsporter.”

Why MMD India
Speaking on what makes MMD stand out from the competition, Chaudhuri was quick to say, “The global mining is changing rapidly: rising costs, environmental pressures and health and safety have called time on traditional truck and shovel methods. As the industry becomes increasingly aware of the need for ‘Sustainable Mining’, the ecological benefits derived from the elimination of dust and reduction of harmful greenhouse emissions caused by truck and shovel methods are self-evident. MMD’s innovative technology is at the forefront of this revolution. Sizer technology is the latest innovation in the crushing industry providing a compact and efficient way of communication, both in underground and open pit operations.”

MMD claims to be the innovator of fully mobile IPSC system which allows the flexibility of a mining shovel to be matched with the cost effectiveness of long distance conveyor haulage. The material can be loaded directly into the Fully Mobile Sizer station and processed at the mine face, simplifying the system and optimising production. MMD fully mobile IPSC is having the advantages of elimination of haul trucks in a truck and shovel operation, where trucks are used to carry the material to the processing plant, or out of a mine dump area. “This process is no longer necessary as material can be loaded directly into the mobile sizer station, and processed at the mine face, simplifying the system and optimising production,” Chaudhuri further adds.

Procurement practices and credit concerns
Speaking about the procurement practices and the credit concerns of MMD, Chaudhuri said, “While deciding on the successful bidder, we do not generally follow the L1 process. Our emphasis on quality,  timely delivery and commitment. In this process, we aim to get the best market player. This in turn adds value to our final product because when we are supplying to our customer, the margin is not the only motive but giving them the best product which is fit for purpose and cost effective to my customer.”

Shedding light on the credit concerns that MMD shares with the clients, Chaudhuri said that till now, the company has not faced any issues.  However, he concludes by saying, “Payment is contract specific and decided on terms which are mutually feasible between us.”
