Dhanraj Kalbhor, Managing Director, NORD Drivesystems in an interview with B2B Purchase

NORD Drive Systems was established in 2007 with a small-sized geared motor. Later, marking our presence in the Indian market, we gradually shifted to large-sized geared motors, and at this moment, we are looking for all possible ways to assemble industrial gearboxes by this last quarter. Because of the speed at which the industry is moving, it will take longer. The delivery of various types of equipment, machinery, and inventory would take around five to six months. In India, the manufacture of these industrial gearboxes will begin in October or November. The geared motor is already in place, as is the complete range of frame sizes from zero to ten, which we manufacture in India, says Dhanraj Kalbhor, Managing Director, NORD Drivesystems.

How promising is the construction and infra market for you?

We are heavily involved in construction and OEM machine manufacture, which is one of the reasons for our rapid growth. Road construction, in particular. All of these crushers and crushing facilities are required for road construction, and NORD is also involved in them. India is rapidly developing its road infrastructure, and t’s an excellent opportunity for us to expand. And I believe it will last at least another four to five years.

How are international market trends impacting your business?

The present geopolitical situation influences both raw material purchases and exports. From a sales standpoint, India’s exports are expanding. We have subsidiaries in nearly every country, including Singapore, Southeast Asia, China, India, and Indonesia. So, we’re pitching in on the back end of the supply chain. Many of the components are only available outside of India. We get around 70 per cent to 75 per cent of our material from our other businesses. The new development within India has begun for us, and my team has assured us that it is completed on schedule. Many local developments, particularly housing, have begun. We call it “centre housing” since we have distinct case housing. We began localising it in India. We began making it for our consumption and have lately begun exporting it. From a sales standpoint, this is a chance for us to backwards integrate. The business is flourishing because Europe is attempting to establish its criteria yet has to come to grips with what has undoubtedly emerged. As a result, there are several opportunities. Our OEMs are receiving orders, and we are naturally attempting to expand. So, the first quarter was fantastic, as we witnessed an increase of almost 20 per cent to 30 per cent, in comparison to the previous year’s average.
