How is your range of construction equipment products unique in comparison with other players in the industry?
Kobelco has been a market leader due to its top class productivity through a combination of highly fuel efficient engines and innovative hydraulics for faster operating cycles. There is also a very strong focus on the operator and every effort is made to enable the operator to work efficiently, safely and comfortably to achieve higher output, even when working for long hours.

What strategies are enabling you to maintain cost competitiveness as cutting edge in present scenario?
Kobelco excavators are known for their latest Japanese technology with several unique features that ensure high levels of productivity and reliability. In the industry, there are two main categories – the high-end equipment with current international features and others with relatively older technologies. Some of the USPs that has helped us to grow over the years includes high fuel savings, higher output through faster operating cycles, long service life of main components, environment and operator-friendly and field support for maximum machine uptime.

Who are your key customers?
There is a long list of satisfied and reference customers. A large number are fleet owners as well as mine and quarry owners. The list of corporates is also increasing year-on-year. These customers operate in all common applications including some really tough ones.

What is your expectation from the upcoming edition of Excon? Will you be displaying any new products?
At this edition of EXCON, we shall be displaying several machines & attachments. Prominent among these would be our mining excavator, the 80T SK850LC, being displayed at EXCON for the first time, along with our demolition excavator, the 35T SK350DLC. Our mini excavator, the 3.0T SK30SR will also be displayed at EXCON for the first time. Among the other attachments, we shall be displaying the new Okada Breaker as well as the Miller range of Quick Couplers.

What are your plans for the coming year?
Our numbers have shown an upward trend over the past 2-3 months and we plan to stay focused on regaining our position before the slowdown. We shall revive our capacity augmentation plans as soon as the market stabilizes so that we can meet the increased demand thereafter.
