JCB India is one of the fastest growing companies in the Indian earthmoving and construction equipment industry. Amit Gossain expects proposed projects from government to reflect in positive manner and describes JCB product range to meet the needs of market.
Avoid delayAs Indian Road Ministry is targeting to build 25-km of roads per day, there will be a huge opportunity for the Construction Equipment industry. It is an achievable target. However, difficulties in achieving financial closure, land acquisition and issues related to environment and forest clearance had slowed down the construction of roads in the past couple of years. However, with the recent allocation of ` 37,800 crore to National Highways Authority of India for roads and ` 14,000 crore for rural roads, the road sector will be one of the major sectors to drive the equipment demand in the coming years.
“We need to have a mechanism in place which will streamline the on ground execution thus, ensuring a long-term demand for all Construction Equipment,” suggests Mr Gossain.
To achieve the target, the Government needs to ensure that stalled projects are cleared without any further delay. The need of the hour is to identify projects of national importance and ensure they are implemented expeditiously.
Current trends“We expect to see some movement in the second half of the current fiscal year,” says Mr Gossain. “With strong pipeline of road projects to be awarded by NHAI and State Governments, the opportunities for the road equipment manufacturers are sizeable.”
Wise customersToday’s customers have become wise enough and are looking for performance oriented, fuel efficient, reliable and rugged machines. Moreover, there are various factors like soil type, gradation, density, moisture content, layer thickness which influence the overall compaction effort.
“Compactors offered by JCB are versatile in nature as they conceptualised and developed after extensive market research,” assures Mr Gossain.
JCB rangeCurrently, in the JCB range of compaction machines, the company has the following:• VM115, the 11T single drum soil compactor VM115, is designed to offer high compaction and greater output at the lowest fuel consumption within the category of machines.
• VMT860, the 9T tandem roller VMT 860, is designed to offer high productivity and reliability with maximum operating economy. Powered by robust, fully topicalised, low fuel consumption JCB ecoMAX engine. VMT 860 has been specially designed keeping in mind the tough Indian working conditions.
• VMT330, the small 3T asphalt roller, is a versatile compactor with high compaction forces and drum offset design. This machine is good for compaction in restricted spaces as this has got high kerb clearance.  ——————————————————————We need to have a mechanism in place which will streamline the on ground execution thus, ensuring a long-term demand for all construction equipment.
