In an interview with B2B Purchase, PROMAN’s Managing Director RS Raghavan talks about the future of Indian crushing and screening industry and his company’s objectives. Edited excerpts:

Could you give us a glimpse of the crushing and screening industry performance?
The crushing and screening industry growth has been flat on an all India basis due to slowdown on the road projects. However commercial aggregate and sand producers have been growing steadily. Companies like PROMAN have been able to take the opportunity to cater to this market.


How do you think macro opportunity from smart cities and road building will pan out for a company like yours?
Most of the main contractors in the road and infrastructure segment are subcontracting and outsourcing their aggregates and crushing operations. We are seeing more mature customers who understand what they want. PROMAN has been traditionally working with this segment of the customers and are in a better position to cater to them.

What kind of business growth do you see in the current fiscal?
PROMAN has been growing steadily over the last decade and we expect that we will grow at a rate of 25 per cent in the current fiscal.

What do you think of future of Indian crushing and screening industry?
The Indian crushing and screening industry has matured. Though the market seems to be crowded with local and international players, companies who deliver solutions and maintain the quality of equipment and plants and transfer the benefits to the customer in terms of profitability will have a sizeable share of the market.

Brief us about your latest innovation in the aggregate and sand domains.
PROMAN provides crushing solutions and we believe that our equipment are a part of the total solution which involves the process, the application and the system. PROMAN’s USP is to provide innovative crushing solutions with our collaborations in technology from world-class crushing and screening equipment. We have solutions for producing plaster and manufactured sand both dry and wet process. Our modular crushing systems for the aggregates is very effective and successful.

What is the biggest challenge that industry has to address?
The biggest challenges industry has to address are the right skills in terms of manpower and handling the various government clearances pertaining to mining and quarrying.
