We have introduced a new jaw crusher of 1,000 TPH. This model is successfully operating and has created quite a buzz in the market place, says V. Venkataramana, Vice President – Marketing, Puzzolana Machinery Fabricators.

How is the crushing and screening market in India evolving?

The demand for crushing and screening equipment is now picking up and the major projects like bullet train, dedicated railway cargo corridors, hydro and infrastructure projects, sky scrapers, and other construction activities requiring concrete sand, plaster sand and ready-mix concrete plants. The major projects are looking for aggregates of (-)22 mm and sand for the concrete works. The capacities of the plants vary from 300 TPH to 1,000 TPH.

What is the demand scenario for various types of crushers and screens?

The major demand is for stationary plants and 300TPH plants in 3-4 stage for commercial sales of aggregates and sand. For road projects, the major demand is for wheeled plants (Speed Bharath) or modular plants of 250 TPH capacity, which can be installed/dismantled in 10-15 days. For Northeast and mining projects, mobile crawler plants in 2-3 stages of up to 250 TPH capacity are suitable.

What are the latest products and solutions offered?

We have introduced a new jaw crusher of 1,000 TPH. This model is successfully operating and has created quite a buzz in the market place. We have introduced plants of 350 TPH to 400 TPH capacity with heavy-duty jaw crusher and one secondary cone crusher followed by VSI/sander for production of (-)22 mm aggregates and sand. Puzzolana has successfully exported crushing plant with 650 TPH long distance/barge loading conveyor to LafargeHolcim Bangladesh.

What are the new technologies for improved efficiency and productivity?

Improving efficiency is an ongoing process and Puzzolana has introduced high-capacity plants with energy savings and reduce the cost/ton of production.

In the pandemic situation to reduce the travel of manpower, we have started branch offices in each state and also distributed manpower to be located close to the crushing zones. Also, to improve efficiency and time lag of supply of parts, we have increased the stock points and production units.

What are the policy disruptions that drive green technologies in post-Covid scenario?

Puzzolana is proud to state that we are the pioneers in manufacturing the country’s first mobile crushing and screening plants that can run on grid power also. These crawler units are diesel electric-hybrid models with diesel generator sets as a standard fitment, where in the event of availability of grid power, the machines can be run without diesel.

By connecting to the grid, the plant operator can avoid the challenges of managing large quantities of diesel in terms of paper work, transportation, storage and safety. This pioneering step has been a major attraction to customers who have appreciated the immense benefits that can be derived by using grid power, besides the low cost of production.

As a drive to fight against Covid-19, we have administered vaccination to all our employees/sub-contract teams of more than 2,000 people.
