Mumbai-based Soujanya Color is a well-known Indian colorant manufacturing company with a global footprint. In an interview with B2B Purchase, the company’s Business Development Director Jashan Ashesh Bhumkar talks about the product offerings, business network and future plans.

Could you briefly tell us about Soujanya and its products offering?
Soujanya Color is a leading colorant manufacturing company based in Mumbai and is among the Top 3 in the World. We have been at the forefront of innovation in colorants since more than 30 years. Consistent performance, strong customer focus and deep-rooted values have resulted in enduring relationships with customers worldwide. Today, with business interests spread across more than 20 countries in Asia-Pacific, Africa and Middle East, and expanding into Europe, North and Central America, Soujanya is growing stronger than ever and creating value for customers, partners and employees alike.

Our fully-automated manufacturing facility located in Mumbai is Asia’s largest and most sophisticated colour manufacturing unit. The plant is also served with a dedicated R&D team, consisting of chemical technology experts who are constantly seeking new challenges. The facility is also a certified “green” building designed to achieve maximum efficiency with minimum wastage of energy and resources.
In products or services, Soujanya is pushing boundaries everywhere. We offer pigment dispersions for a range of applications ranging from paints and tinting systems, automotive industry, composite (reinforced) materials such as FRP/GRP, wood, plastics (such as PVC, PU), inks etc.

What are your offerings for the construction domain?
We understand colour and its strong relationship with not only aesthetics but also with performance – particularly for the construction domain. Broadly, we cater to three key aspects of the construction domain – decoration, protection, and flooring. For decoration, we offer complete tinting solutions for architectural paints as well as highly durable exterior colorants for facades. This solution is complete with a synergistic coordination between colour, software and equipment.  Our flagship series of industrial colorants is compatible with a range of coatings for various performance applications such as anti-corrosion, anti-microbial, protective and maintenance coatings for infrastructure such as bridges, pipes etc. We also offer colorants in ready shades for epoxy and PU flooring. For every application and product, we offer integrated solutions including shade formulations and continuous technical support.

Do you offer any colouring solution for epoxy floor coatings?
We offer solvent-free as well as solvent-based colorants for epoxy floor coatings. These can be provided in ready custom or RAL shades.

These products are produced using the newest generation of dispersion equipment under process-controlled conditions to ensure colour accuracy and reproducibility, high tinting strength, excellent rheology and superior light and weather fastness for superior durability.

What are the application areas of your Blend range of products?
Blend is our range of solvent-free colorants for epoxy systems finds applications in all the areas where epoxy resins are used. Specific to the construction domain, its applications include epoxy floor coatings, epoxy laminates, chemical resistance and anticorrosive coatings, reinforced epoxies etc.

Are these colorants eco-friendly?
As part of our commitment to sustainability, we have a range of “green” products on offer. Keeping with this commitment to sustainability and the general market trend of moving from solvent-based to solvent-free systems, Blend is a solvent-free, 100 per cent solids dispersion.

How these products are made available to the market? Tell us more about your distribution network.
We have a strong pan-India presence and also export to over 20 countries globally. Our team is adept at servicing customers located both near and far from our base in Mumbai. We also have regional distributors in North and South India.

Are you open to add more distributors/dealers in your network?
Yes, we are always open to exploring growth opportunities including the addition of new distributors and channel partners to our network.
