Tata Motors unveiled the new range of construction trucks at EXCON 2011. The Construck range will be more productive, more fuel efficient, easier to operate and maintain, thus, demonstrating the company’s commitment towards developing the construction and mining industry.
The strength of Tata Motors’ Construck range was displayed by over seven vehicles – Tata Prima 3138.K – 19 cum scoop body tipper with auto transmission, Tata Prima 3128.K – 20 cum box body tipper, Tata Prima 2528.K – 16 cum box body tipper, Tata LPK 3118-8 cum RMC, Tata LPK 3118-18 cum tipper, Tata LPK 1616 – Ergo Pack, Tata LPK 3118 – 27 cum Bulker.
These trucks come with powerful & fuel efficient engines with reliable transmissions, drivelines, axles and hydraulics. All the aggregates have been optimised to ensure maximum performance and the improved efficiency comes with enhanced ease of operation and reliability, thus, significantly reducing the lifetime operating costs, per tonne.
The Construck rangeTata Prima 3138.K- 19 cum scoop body tipper with auto transmission The Tata Prima 3138.K is a 4 axle, 31-tonne GVW tipper with Allison automatic transmission. The 8X4 tipper is powered by Cummins ISLe (CRDi) engine, which has maximum power of 370HP. The product features include new generation brakes, ABS and hub reduction axle, specially designed for off-road applications with robust Metalsa chassis frame, heavy duty suspension that can overcome any terrain with its high gradeability. The tipper comes with a robust frame, dual reduction axles and a 19cu .mt rock body for better payload and faster tipping time.
The tipper has spacious air-conditioned non-sleeper cabin that includes pneumatic suspended driver seat, adjustable steering wheels for enhanced driver comfort. The driving comfort enables the driver to operate for long hours each day, thereby offering faster turnaround time.
The Tata Prima 3138.K tipper is ideal for carrying overburden in coal, iron, limestone and other applications involved in heavy mining industry as well as similar off-road applications.
Tata Prima 3128.K – 20 cum box body tipper
The Tata Prima 3128.K tipper has been specially developed for road construction and irrigation projects. Powered by a 270-HP engine, the Tata Prima 3128,K has a larger and wider body for enhanced capacity. The model is tailor-made for smooth movement of earthwork and aggregates and offers customized body options (18, 20 & 23 Cu.mt). To ensure optimum vehicle usage, the Tata Prima 3128.K is equipped with a data logger that helps measure vehicle performance, driving practices along with several parameters on a daily basis, and the increased power ensures faster trips and higher profitability. Enhanced performance comes with Cummins CRDI Engine, 9S gearbox, world-class cabin with HVAC, New Generation Technology (NGT) brakes.
Tata Prima 2528.K – 16 cum box body tipper The Tata Prima 2528.K tipper has been designed for off-road deep-mining and heavy-duty applications (aggregate transport). Equipped with strong aggregates, a robust chassis frame, suspension and 11.00 x 20 non mining tyres and powered by a 270-HP Cummins CRDI engine, the Tata Prima 2528.K can overcome any terrain. An air-conditioned cabin, data logger, pneumatic driver seat and an ergonomically designed instrument cluster, improve driver efficiency, resulting in increased productivity and faster returns on investment. Productivity is optimised with customised body options (16 Cu.mt Box and Scoop). The 9S gearbox, world-class cabin with HVAC, and New Generation Technology (NGT) brakes enhance vehicle performance.
Tata LPK 3118-8 cum RMC The Tata LPK 3118 8×4 provides concrete mixer fleet customers with easy operation and sufficient performance to overcome challenging conditions, including complicated access routes to construction sites, mud, uneven surfaces and steep slopes. Tata LPK 3118 is able to run at precise speed making it easier to pour a curb or sidewalk without jerking. The vehicle’s powertrain transfers engine torque smoothly and efficiently from the transmission to the driving wheels, reducing slip in the kind of terrain encountered on construction sites. The Tata LPK 3118 8 Cu.mt RMC is powered by CUMMINS B5.9-180 31 with GB 1150 9 speed transmission. It has the lowest turning circle diameter of 19 mts in its class, making it easy to operate in cities and construction sites.
Tata LPK 3118-18 cum box body tipper The new Tata LPK 3118 18 cu. mt box tipper not only meets the BS III emission standards and legislation, but also features a package of improvements in functionality, design and maintenance. Powered by Cummins B5.9-180 31 with GB 1150 9 speed transmission, this tipper has been designed for road construction, irrigation projects. The load body is also strong with floor thickness of 6 mm with side and head board being 4 mm. The tipper’s design, high clearance and tipping angle all promote excellent material transfer. The Tata LPK 3118 tippers are easy to maneuver (lowest turning circle diameter in its class -19 mts) and tip in the most efficient and safe way.
Tata LPK 1616 (Ergo Pack) tipper Tata Motors pioneering efforts to meet the changing market scenario gave rise to India’s first fully built 4×2 front end two axle tippers – the Tata LPK 1616. The addition of a mid rail and an increase in the mid stiffener length along with an increase in the number of cross members and the sheet thickness of the floor, give more strength to the tipper body. The Tata LPK 1616 with its slick design and tailored features is tuned for better performance. It is best suited for construction applications and coal transportation.
Tata LPK 1616 comes with a powerful Tata 697 BS III engine, with a sturdy all steel cabin and will be available in 7 Cu.mt and 10 Cu.mt body options. The Tata LPK 1616 Ergo Pack’s centrally positioned driver information display and smaller steering wheel makes the vehicle more ergonomical. The vehicle boasts of a new instrument cluster, steering column with steering lock cum ignition switch, combination switch, mobile charger, Global Positioning System (GPS) and stereo slots. The next range of Tata LPK 1616 will come with AC options.
Tata LPK 3118-27 cum Bulker Tata LPT 3118 Bulkers are fitted with a suitable pneumatic conveying system and safety devices, which can discharge the product into the final destination storage silo / yard safely. This bulker has been developed on India’s first 8X2 multi-axle truck with lift axle. It is fitted with automatic load sensing value for optimum lift axle function. The gross vehicle weight (GVW) is 31,000 kg, offering more payload, minimum operating cost and in turn more earnings for the customer. It delivers a maximum power of 177hp @ 2,500rpm and torque of 650nm @ 1,500rpm and gradeability of 21 per cent. It has a maximum gear speed of 79.1 kmph, an overall length of 9290mm (for cab) and a ground clearance of 248mm.
The very efficient Conveyance System results in high evacuation efficiency, making the discharge virtually complete and close to 100 per cent empty.
The Tata LPK 3118 Bulker is reliable on road, has lesser tare weight (but still strong), can carry more payload, gives superior tyre life and is maintenance-free, thus keeping the cost per MT delivery, low.
Tata LPK 2518 Multi Cap During coal transportation, there is coal spillage and cases of fly ash in the air, which causes pollution. With continuous research and unrelenting efforts to meet customer needs, Tata Motors has developed the Tata LPK 2518 Multi Cap, a vehicle which comes with hydraulically operated covers, to address this issue. The hydraulic cap movement is fully automated and controlled from driver’s seat. It is less time consuming and eliminates manual intervention.
The Tata LPK 2518 comes with the most powerful Tata Cummins engine 6BT engine, with a 6 forward and 1 reverse speed gearbox and has a high gradeability of 26 per cent.
