Incepted in 1983, Goldfinch Engineering Systems Pvt Ltd, also known as Goldfinch, provides quality environmental engineering services. Today it has become a well-knit professional company to include many project listings and clients of respect in all. Goldfinch employs qualified and experienced personnel from various disciplines and offers products that integrate different aspects of environmental engineering and technology. Santosh Bhide, Director-Projects, Goldfinch Engineering Systems Pvt Ltd talks about creating awareness and providing adequate resources with proper budget allotment for wastewater treatment.
Lack of awarenessToday, there are lots of options available for wastewater treatment and the availability of solution providers as well as the components has also increased. However talking about the current trends in wastewater treatment, Santosh Bhide observed, “Sadly procurement people are not fully aware of the pros and cons of materials and processes and generally base their buying decision on basis of price.”
Water treatment should be customisedAs far as the buying factors are considered, Bhide feels, “The buyer has to understand that water treatment has to be a customised solution as the input water quality, ambient conditions and the desired treated water quality all keep varying case to case. The buyer has to make available correct and representative data including analysis data of water rather than going ahead with any solution based on assumptions.”
Biological process – a major innovationWastewater treatment is not limited to only meeting with disposal standards but includes recycle of treated wastewater to the extent possible. Hence meeting with quality requirements at different stages of treatment is very important. The use of membranes coupled with biological process (MBR) and reverse osmosis membranes for recovery of water has become essential.
Today speciality membrane materials to avoid fouling are available from reputed manufacturers. The cost of sludge disposal from wastewater treatment is also very high hence state-of-the-art equipment to dewater the sludge is being developed. The operating cost for treatment and recovery of water so as to achieve Zero Liquid Discharge (ZLD) is very high. Therefore, according to Bhide, all innovations will be aimed at increasing the water recovery while optimising the cost of energy and recurring costs.
Industry needs to be empoweredCommenting on if Indian industry is mature enough to optimally use the advanced wastewater treatment, Bhide says, “Industry definitely has the knowledge to use advanced water treatment technology. It is a matter of preparing for the same by providing adequate resources and budget allocations.”
Golfinch’s solutions Goldfinch offers comprehensive solution right from assessment, analysis, design, engineering, supply and installation. “Our strength is also the skilled people to commission and operate the water and wastewater treatment plants installed by us,” said Bhide. In three decades of existence, Goldfinch has handled wastewater treatment for almost all types of industry.
The company has in-house capabilities and credentials such as MoEF approved laboratory, QCI NABET accreditation as EIA consultant, own manufacturing facility, distributorship for RO membranes from reputed manufacturer (CSM). “Offering customised solutions by understanding client requirements and prompt after-sales-service makes Goldfinch one of the right choices,” concludes Bhide.
The buyer has to understand that water treatment has to be a customised solution as the input water quality, ambient conditions and the desired treated water quality all keep varying case to case.
