Kongu Engineering College, Tamil Nadu now becomes the latest Student Chapter in American Concrete Institute (ACI) India Chapter’s increasing Student Chapter programme. India Chapter President, Radhika Markan, has inaugurated the Chapter.

The 2-day visit of the President had a packed agenda that included:

  • Official presentation of the Student Chapter Flag from ACI to the Founder and Principal of Kongu Engineering College.
  • Inauguration of the laboratory where numerous concrete related projects of the Student Chapter will be conducted and judged.
  • Seminar on ACI Student Chapter programme to over 400 civil engineering students.
  • Presentation of Certificates to students who participated in the recently-concluded All-India Concrete Cube Test competition organised by India Chapter.
  • Interaction with Office Bearers of the Student Chapter.
  • Tour of the Institute.

India Chapter President, Ms. Markan, was touched by the hospitality and warm welcome accorded to her by Kongu’s management, faculty members, student chapter office bearers and students. Her interaction with the 400-plus civil engineering students was very interactive and spirited, prompting the Institute to invite her to give a motivational talk in year 2018 to all students on campus.

Spread over 170 acres, Kongu Engineering College has over 8,000 students enrolled in various disciplines of engineering, architecture and other technical courses. A thriving environment for over-all development of the student is its focus and this aligns well with Student Chapter programmes – the thrust of which are learning through internationally recognised R&D, projects, practical exercises and interaction with global concrete experts.
