The comprehensively adaptable setup expedites the introduction of advanced innovations into Indian products.

It completed the installation and commissioning of a cutting-edge acrylic dispersion production line in Dahej, India, which will serve the coatings, construction, adhesives, and paper industries in South Asian markets. BASF began producing polymer dispersions in Dahej, India, in October 2014, and this new line will nearly double its capacity.

BASF is a leading producer and supplier of acrylics and butadienecontaining dispersions in the Asia-Pacific region. “As a global polymer dispersions supplier, we are committed to ensuring the supply of high-quality products to support our customers’ expansion plans.” The South Asian market is one of the Asia-Pacific region’s fastest-growing sub-regions. “Our customers are looking for global partners like BASF who can bring innovation and expertise with their  extensive footprint to help them differentiate in their markets,” said Milind Joshi, Director, Dispersions South Asia at BASF.

The new line complements the existing setup and enables the production of new dispersion technologies under the Styronal® PLUS 7918, Styronal® ES series, Basonal® FCB, Acronal® EDGE, Acronal® PLUS, and next-generation Acronal® ECO product ranges. “Our innovations in construction polymers and architectural coatings continue to deliver increased functionality, including sustainability features, as well as durability improvement, driving the industry’s premiumization. “Our DURA-COLOR binders for exterior coatings, for example, enable the formulation of exterior paints with exceptional dirt pick-up resistance and colour retention. In paper coatings, for example, we continue to push for lower cost-of-use solutions. Styronal® PLUS 7918 is our high-strength product that allows for significant binder reduction “Bir Darbar Mehta, Senior Vice President – Dispersions Asia Pacific, BASF.

“Dispersions is an important business for us in India, and this project reflects our commitment to the Indian market and our customers in the country,” said Narayan Krishnamohan, Managing Director, BASF India Limited and Head of BASF Companies in India.
