Onduline Green Roof Awards 2023 will include participants from six Asian countries, including India.

Along with the escalating effects of global warming, the debate over green building keeps gaining momentum. Another deciding element is how much more considerate people are of nature. The flurry of activity to create environmentally friendly homes or structures demonstrates the level of awareness of protecting the environment. Since architecture is a manifestation of ideas that flow continuously in producing new experiences, expressions, and sensations of space, not just form and function, the construction industry has a huge chance to reduce the negative effects of unplanned development through time.

Comfortable and cosy thermal conditions in a home are often overlooked. For the sake of beauty, comfort has frequently been neglected. If architects or building designers develop their structures based on an environmentally friendly approach, the requirement for additional electrical energy, for example, can be decreased for the air conditioning system. Reducing power use is a sign of being environmentally responsible today rather than digging infiltration wells or planting as many trees and grasses as possible.

Onduline, a French company that leads the globe in corrugated bitumen roofing solutions, is committed to creating a better world. Through the biennial Onduline Green Roof Award competition (OGRA) 2023 Asia, we are challenging architecture professionals to build roofs that enable energy usage to be more efficient in residential houses.

Starting in 2013, the competition is already in its tenth year. The OGRA 2023 Asia competition is expected to draw more competitors than in past years because it will be open to participants from six different countries at once: Indonesia, India, Malaysia, the Philippines, Thailand, and Vietnam.

Participants are asked to create a roof design for a home that is run by a sustainable strategy under the theme “Tropical Passive Roof Design for Low Energy Houses” and must have at least a year of experience in architecture, interior design, construction, developers, planning consultants, and implementing consultants.

The competition officially commenced on April 14, 2023, and will be accepting registrations until the 30th of August, 2023. The registration form is available on their website ogra-contest.com.  The winners are scheduled to be announced by late September.
