Concrete equipment manufacturing major SCHWING Stetter plans to enhance its production capacity by setting up a new facility in Tamil Nadu or Maharashtra.

Talking to B2B Purchase, on the sidelines of EXCON 2017, Anand Sundaresan, Vice Chairman and Managing Director, SCHWING Stetter India said, “The construction equipment industry is estimated to grow by 10-11 per cent year-on-year in the next few years whereas the concreting equipment segment is likely to grow by 13 to 15 per cent. Our current production capacity will not allow us to meet this increase in demand. Therefore, we have decided to enhance our production capacity by setting up a greenfield project with an investment of around Rs 140 crores.”

With this expansion, SCHWING Stetter would shift the production of a range of machinery to the new location and free up space at the existing facility to roll out new equipment. However, they are yet to finalise the location. According to Sundaresan, the company would prefer to be near the existing facility in Chennai as it would be easy to monitor. At the same time, he adds, “We are also keeping our options open to set up a facility in Maharashtra as the local government encourages investment in manufacturing by giving lucrative incentives.”

In Maharashtra, Nagpur is a preferred location as it is strategically located in terms of highway connectivity and proximity to automobile hubs, informs Sundaresan.

Launches application based products at EXCON

Keeping in line with the growing government infrastructure requirements, SCHWING Stetter introduced the application based products to suit the Indian market. With products across concreting, non-concreting, industrial and environmental technology solutions; this move would enable the company to participate across all government projects that will be announced.

Speaking on the occasion, Sundaresan said, “SCHWING Stetter India has always been at the forefront of India’s infrastructure needs. While we have been playing a key role in the development of the country, we are taking a step towards, widening our reach to all corners of our country. We think this product realignment strategy will definitely work wonders for us and the construction industry.”

V.G. Sakthikumar, Managing Director, SCHWING Stetter Sales & Services Pvt Ltd, said, “At SCHWING Stetter, we have always paid attention to environmental issues and being a concrete equipment manufacturing company. We have always laid emphasis on indigenising products and introducing newer product range, keeping in mind the customer requirements.”
