According to estimates by the National Investment Promotion & Facilitation Agency (NIPFA), India’s construction market will be the third largest globally, growing ~7 percent each year. While the future looks bright, the sector must overcome harsh operational challenges to realise its true potential. As an industry leader, Mobil™ Lubricants collaborates closely with construction companies to overcome these challenges and help them unlock their true potential.

Mobil’s association with Bolbam Infrastructure, a construction company, is testament to the company’s focus on forming close industry associations to deliver the most reliable results.

Association with Bolbam Infrastructure

Bolbam Infrastructure is a leading construction company based in Varanasi. For their operational requirements, they had been utilising a popular rockbreaker equipment. The rockbreaker is a powerful percussion hammer fitted to an excavator or backhoe that is used to demolish concrete structures or rocks. The rockbreaker endures severe heavy- duty operations that often lead to performance challenges. At Bolbam Infrastructure, the rockbreaker was experiencing short oil drain interval (ODI) and filter life of 700 hours in the application – resulting in lower productivity and higher maintenance costs.

Seeking assistance in correcting the recurring anomaly, Bolbam Infrastructure reached out to Mobil’s Field Engineering Services (FES) team. The FES team conducted an application assessment study to thoroughly review the problem and identify precise solutions. Thereafter, the team recommended the use of Mobil DTE™ 26 Ultra (ISO VG 68) hydraulic oil – a part of the Mobil DTE™ 20 Ultra Series — to prevent rapid oil oxidation and deposit formation. Further, to monitor the oil and equipment performance regularly, the

Soon, Bolbam Infrastructure fetched positive gains and reported revenue improvement of ` 3,62,000 per equipment. Further, the ODI and filter life increased from 700 hours to 2100 hours while oil consumption decreased by 800 litres annually per equipment and man-hours for maintenance was reduced by 57 hours. A combination of superior solutions from Mobil and service assistance through MSLA helped the construction company improve its output and long-term efficiency.

 Innovation at Mobil

With 150 years of experience in formulating the most advanced lubrication solutions, Mobil has earned its reputation as a leading industrial provider. The company had achieved a breakthrough with the Mobil DTE 10 Excel™ Series of premium hydraulic oils. Now, continuing its commitment to pioneering innovation and investment, Mobil is receiving wide appreciation for its Mobil DTE 20 Ultra Series oils. These are high-performance anti-wear hydraulic oils with extended oil life capabilities that have demonstrated up to 2-times longer  oil drain intervals  in comparison to similar competitive oils*. They meet the stringent requirements of hydraulic systems using high pressure, high output pumps as well as other hydraulic system components such as close clearance servo-valves and numerically controlled (NC) machine tools.

The products exhibit outstanding oxidation and thermal stability. They allow long oil life and reduced deposit formation in harsh conditions, and with severe hydraulic systems using high pressure, high output pumps. Maintaining clean performance helps protect critical hydraulic system components from malfunction, such as tight tolerance servo and proportional valves found in many modern hydraulic systems. These products have met the most rigorous performance requirements of a wide range of hydraulic systems and component manufacturers, allowing the use of a single product with excellent performance characteristics.

The construction industry is marked by an ever-increasing demand for innovative machinery and equipment solutions that can cater to diverse field applications. As industry leaders pioneering innovation and technology, Mobil’s solutions cater to this evolving demand of the construction industry. With its mass reach and pivotal role in today’s India that aspires for self-sufficiency and resilience, the construction industry is poised to take promising leaps – and opting for the most precise technology solutions can go a long way in ensuring growth with stability in the sector.

20-ExxonMobil-1Disclaimer: *Mobil DTE 20 Ultra Series oils have demonstrated up to 2-times longer oil drain intervals versus similar competitive oils (ISO VG 46 with a viscosity index around 100 and a zinc-based anti-wear system – meeting at least ISO 11158 (L-HM) and/or DIN 51542-2 (HLP type) requirements) in demanding Mobil Hydraulic Fluid Durability (MHFD) testing.

This case study is based on the experience of a single customer. Actual results can vary depending upon the type of equipment used and its maintenance, operating conditions and environment, and any prior lubricant used.
