CWe often need to build structure which may contain water within it or sometimes we may need to maintain dry conditions within the structure even if it is subjected to watery condition from outside. Seepage control or water proofing is a treatment on the surface of a structure to prevent the passage of water under hydrostatic pressure or by absorption.

Normet has introduced Tamseal Admix – a crystalline water proofing system in India recently which is suitable and cost optimised solution for water proofing treatment need of buildings and structures.

How TamSeal admix works?
TamSeal Admix reacts with the various chemicals and moisture in the concret
e to form insoluble crystals which seal the capillaries and shrinkage cracks. The chemicals penetrate deep into the concrete by the pressure of osmosis. TamSeal Admix is unique as it only contains active chemicals we add no plasticisers to it. Normet believes in not changing the mix design as this raises issues as to whose water reducer or retarder etc. it can be used with. TamSeal Admix works with all admixtures, lignin based, SP’s (naphthalene sulphonate) and polymer based (polycarboxylates). There is no retardation or acceleration associated with the use (user-friendly).

The Tam Seal Admix is added to the concrete at the time of batching at a rate of 0.8 per cent to 1.2 per cent by weight of the total of the fly ash and cementitious content (350 kg cement 2.8 kg to 4.2 kg per cube).

Normet also recommends the use of TamSeal R swellable sealant in all construction joints. For critical construction joints use TamSeal R in conjunction with Tam Injection Hose RI (Reinjectable Hose).
