“The major factors a buyer should consider is kind of project, the fit of its equipment of project, after-sales service support required for equipment, the resale value of the equipment purchased,” said Ranjeet More, Vice Chairman and Managing Director at Universal Construction Machinery & Equipment Ltd while speaking on the major factors a buyer should consider before making a decision of buying construction equipment.

Pune-based Universal Construction Machinery & Equipment Ltd is one of the key players in construction equipment industry. Talking about the current trends in procurement of construction equipment, Ranjeet More says, “Nowadays people are waiting for projects to get clear, uninterrupted project executions and softening of bank interest rates.”

Factors driving the procurement decision making
Focusing on factors driving the procurement decision making apart from pricing, productivity and durability, Ranjeet More believes, “India has been a very cost sensitive market and also the market where unskilled labours are using the machines. It becomes very essential to make offers affordable in terms of interest rates and pricing of product. The unskilled manpower puts the machine practically under less output and productivity goes down. So it depends majorly on manufacturers support.”

Lease or buy?
Talking about the factors a buyer should consider while determining whether to rent or buy construction equipment, Ranjeet More feels, “The size and duration of project and cash viability and the skill set involved in using of equipment decides the factor of renting or buying.” Citing an example he said, “A huge size crane which is not often required on site can be rented out but the product which is continuously under use can be purchased by the buyer.”

Another important factor is depreciation. Nowadays, the government is also specifying certain machines to be there with the contractor ownership for executing and bidding for the project, he adds.

Why Universal?
When asked why a buyer should go for the construction equipment offered by Universal Construction, Ranjeet More explains, “Apart from quality and prompt after-sales service network spread across more than 75 locations through the country, Universal offers a service which can be transferred with the equipment transfers from one location to another.”

Universal also offers trained operators and skilled manpower that will go to use machines. It offers onsite after sales service in any location within India. The company upgrades product technology through its in-house research and development team.

Universal also offers financial aid through various finance companies in India. We offer buyback of its equipment replacing the old models with updated technology and offer end-to-end solutions to all our customer needs,” assures Ranjeet More.
